Despite challenging economic conditions, African economies have been very resilient. Increased spending power from a growing middle class and the slowdown of inflation has created an increased demand for goods and services across the continent. With more than US$100 trillion in assets managed by institutional investors and commercial banks around the world, investors are regarding numerous sectors* across Africa as a source of great potential return.
From November 26, we will be hosting our fourth annual Africa Week, with a range of events and the opportunity to meet both representatives from DLA Piper Africa's 20 member firms, and business sector representatives from Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the US who help our clients successfully do business in the continent.
Topics under discussion will include energy (renewables and oil and gas), arbitration, private equity and mining, accompanied by the prestigious Gala Drinks in celebration of the GC Powerlist Africa Teams.
*Key sectors across Africa that drive investment include agriculture, commodities (mining), consumer goods, energy (including oil and gas), financial services, infrastructure, private equity and venture capital, real estate and telecommunications (including technology).
